Delaware Water Gap to ... New Jersey!!

The church hostel last night was packed and a little stuffy so several of us decided to tent out on the lawn since there was nary a chance of rain. But Pennsylvania had a few more tricks up her sleeve. Not only did it rain most of the night, there was a skunk that milled around our tents until morning when we saw him meander in to the woods.
Checked out of PA early this morning.
Hello New Jersey!!
I don't think of New Jersey when I think of scenic views and beautiful forests... but that's what we are walking through. There are also more bears per square mile here than any other state.
It was a little drizzly most of the morning. Walking through rocks on wet days vs. dry days is completely different. On dry days, I aim for the big flat rocks because it's a semi-even surface to step on. On wet days, those same flat rocks turn in to slippery slides, so I shoot for the dirt patches in between.
Found some blueberries that are just ripening up so stopped for a little snack there.
Past the 1300 mile mark ...
And stopped for a great lunch at the Mohican Outdoor Center.
Summer is flying by much too quickly. Still loving every minute of this insanity.

  2. Sadly we don't go near where she is. I sent her an email though. Out of NJ tomorrow and into NY!
