Big Bear and beyond

I may have already posted this, but for the record...on the AT we follow the white blazes. On the PCT it's this little symbol... And the trail is only for hikers and horseback

Started hiking today up out of Big Bear and had an intimidating view of the desert ahead.
Had a bit of a climb this morning and some of it was pretty rocky
I was thinking, "Uh...go home Pennsylvania. We hiked through you a few years ago!" Mother Nature also tossed a few obstacles in our path. This downed tree looked relatively fresh.
The trail was deserted today! Not sure where everyone was. The only two thru-hikers we saw were James and Lydia , plus a few day hikers.
We hiked up and had a beautiful view of Big Bear from above. You can see the snow melting off the ski runs and the much taller mountains behind .
I just got this cool app called 'Peak Finder". You just hold it up the the mountain range and it tells you which peaks you are looking at. Here's a screen shot of the range in this pic
This could be handy as we get closer to the Sierras.
So, no town for about 85 miles, but there is a McDonald's at a spot where the trail crosses a road in 63 miles 😜 But who's counting 😄 #foodmotivates #mcflurryorhotfudge
