Sabbath Day Pond to Rangely, ME

Got up early this morning for the hike in to Rangely. A little mud and muck on the trail but not too bad. Got in relatively early which was great! Got a ride in to town and ate. A lot. We were really hungry and had not been taking full advantage of our town stops lately. Had a great lunch at Moosely Bagel and Ice cream.
We were just in time for a little Americana, and sat on the tiny Main  street for the Shriners Parade. Big men driving small cars :)
Tonight we are staying at a brand new hostel. The Farmhouse Inn with several of  the hikers we've been with the last several weeks. There is a family here with three kids and they are finishing their last section of the trail this year. It was their 14-year-olds birthday, so we had cake and ice cream. We've all been together for so long and through some tough terrain, that it's become our trail family.
Oh yea, and between lunch time ice cream and birthday ice cream, we had dinner and after-dinner ice cream!!! Wow.
Famous sign around these parts..
Early on in this journey, I hiked with a great gal named Da Vinci. She had a 7-year old to get home to, so she charged ahead a few months ago.  SO happy for her!! She summitted Katahdin today!!!!!!
Out again tomorrow. About three more days of difficult climbs and then things should level out a bit. Awww. Can't wait!

  1. That's where all the Fez wearing fat men gather- duh! Everybody knows that when there's that much ice cream, Shriners can't be far behind.
