Wilbur clearing shelter to Grossest shelter ever

Last good overlook we came to in Massachussetts and then .... In to Vermont!! 11 states down and 3 to go!!
So, I mentioned that Vermont is known as Vermud. Well.... We crossed the state line and it literally became instantly muddy. How does that even happen? Do they have it piped in? It's the same terrain as we've been in, but it's a slop fest. There are three scenarios so far.
1) soggy muddy trail with no way through but right through or bushwhacking around 2) soggy muddy trail with rock stepping stones positioned appropriate distances for the average NBA player 3) soggy muddy trail with rock stepping stones that lead you out in
to the middle of a huge muddy puddle and then stop apbruptly, leaving you with no option but to try to leap across the muck. Usually unsuccessfully.
We did pass the 1600 mile mark today, so that's cool!
Marked it with sticks in the mud. It seemed fitting.
Not a big fan of Vermont so far. We got to the shelter late, 7:30ish, and there are no tent sites, so we are staying in the shelter. And it's gross.
Cheerio!!!
