Manchester Center to Big Branch Shelter

It was reeeeally hard to get motivated to leave the clean and comfort of the Green Mountain House Hostel this morning. There were ominous clouds and rain in the forecast, but we had just zeroed in Dalton. 50/50 was taking a zero today and not sure about Mambo, so our little gang is split for now. Hopefully temporary! Had some food and drinks together last night.
The day started with the climb up to Bromley Mountain, a ski resort here in Vermont. Got to the top with Dirty Harry and Fran and we had a little fun playing on the deserted lifts.
It actually turned out to be a beautiful day for hiking. Overcast off and on, a few sprinkles, but cool and comfortable.
We are getting in to some bigger mountains again, and have come across some great views and scenery.
Got in to camp around 5:30, ate dinner and got set up. In the shelter log, everyone talked about the abundance of mice and it's supposed to rain over night..... we were the only ones there, soooo, we pitched our tents in the shelter. Turned out to be a smart move. No one else showed up, no mice attacks and it rained all night long and we stayed dry.
The adorable Kallin family passed through at about 7:30 with another mile to their destination for the day. They are still going strong!!
