Tom Leonard shelter to Upper Goose Pond Cabin

Hiked out this morning with the intention of going about 17 miles. Coming up in 21 miles was Upper Goose Pond, where there is a cool cabin and a lake for swimming and canoeing. We knew we wanted to spend some time there, so we went ahead and did the 21. BUT, what fun is it to be someplace cool like that, with no good food!? We got to a road crossing at mile 14 and managed to get a ride in to Lee, MA and a good grocery store. BIG mistake going there hungry!!
We got hummus, carrots, donuts, hot dogs, chips, soda, cookies etc etc. This all sounds pretty normal in regular life, but we still had to pack all this stuff in and up for another 7 miles. Food is heavy! Started from the road with a 1 1/2 mile climb and it was slooow going!! Fortunately , there were five of us to share the load! Got in at about 8 and stashed the food in the bear box for our picnic tomorrow.
After the snoring incident from the other night... We opted for putting our tents up down by the lake. Awesome setting! Got in the water and am going to bed feeling clean!! Pancakes at 6:30 up at the cabin, but not sure I'll make it up there. It's so nice to have a morning where I don't have to pack up early and get on the trail.
And there are the aforementioned donuts......
