Clarendon Gorge to Churchill Scott Shelter

Had a great nights sleep last night and did not even wake up until 7!!! That's like midday! Started out the morning with a steep rock scramble. Today was a day of climbing up over Killington Peak. Some of the trail was piney forest
Some was lush ferns, but much of the actual climb up to the peak was a foot grabbing, ankle twisting, root extravaganza.
Challenging for sure. We were looking forward to the summit and relaxing in the sunshine for a bit. No such luck. Too many pine trees and it clouded over for awhile and it was really chilly up there!!
We passed some kids working for the Vermont youth corps doing some trail building. Talk about tough work!! These kids are moving boulders all day long.
We hiked down off the summit and the sun came out and we were able to get a peek-a-view through the trees of the beautiful Green mountains!
Tomorrow .... a short day in to Killington!
