Glastonbury Mountain Tower to Stratton Pond Shelter

A pretty uneventful day. Hiked 19 miles so that we only have 10 in to Manchester Center, VT. Five days without shower in the winter is a completely different deal than five days in the summer. We are overdue!
We hiked up and over Stratton Mountain today. The summit is where Benton MacKaye was first inspired to propose the idea of a trail linking all the ridges of the Appalachian Mountain range. I'm sure it seemed like a preposterous idea to many. It is hard to believe that in this day and age, that there is a trail in the woods, across the mountain ridges leading from Georgia to Maine. Thank goodness for dreamers and doers!
