On the road again..

We had a few more miles of road walk this morning and then we came to a trail that would take us back up to the PCT.   It was 2 steep, unmaintained miles of trail. We were good and sweaty when we finally got back on trail. It was worth the hike up though because we got to walk a ridge line above the desert and it was surprisingly green and lush.
Then the weather switched on us and the clouds rolled in, and the wind picked up and it got chilly!! BUT we did come to....
The 500 mile marker!!! Makes it seem like we are actually making progress!!
The landscape/weather today, seemed a little more like Maine In the fall than Southern California in the spring, teetering on summer.
Did our longest day today. We were going to stay up the mountain a few miles, but it was cold and insanely windy.  So many downed trees and it was just really unsettling. Hiked a few more miles down and it's still pretty cool, but we are protected a little from the wind.
So, I was recapping in my head the last 500 miles....
We've hiked in heat, snow and rain. We've seen rattlesnakes, thousands of lizards, a few deer, a three-legged coyote and the 'moon' of a 50-year old woman. We've slept on the desert floor, the tops of a few mountains, the ridges of countless others, a magical manzanita forest and a dirty, abandoned RV.  We've hitched rides in cars, truck beds and gators.  And I've seen miles and miles of mountains and trails in a part of the country that I've never experienced before. And we're not even 1/4 of the way to Canada....😄
